Stuff I got for Christmas
Written out, that's:
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia - this is the hardest new-school Castlevania game, by far. This is Castlevania for non-bitches only. Also, this game is huge. There are seriously 2-3 "castles" worth of stuff packed into this thing and there's still plenty of depth. Best Castlevania since Symphony of the Night.
GRID - I dig the hell out of this even though I suck at it. It's rare a handheld racing game has a good feeling of speed to it, and this one definitely does.
Books! Got The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, Riprap and Cold Mountain Poems by Gary Snyder, A Time Before Crack by Jamel Shabazz, and The Source by Isis Aquarian. The last one is about the Source Family, who were a bunch of hippies living on a commune in the 60's, taking drugs, making psychedelic rock music, and operating a vegetarian restaurant in Hollywood. Coolest hippies ever.
CD's! Nude With Boots by The Melvins (with Big Business!), Seven's Travels by Atmosphere, and Surfer Rosa by The Pixies. And yes, that is the reissue of Thriller on vinyl right there next to 'em.
Christmas cards! One from my friend, Lindsay and one from my birthmom (she also sent money - my parents gave me gift certificates and stuff, too. And my aunt and uncle sent money too. None of that is in this picture. Also, I forgot to put the card from my aunt and uncle in the picture. Oops).
A friggin' harmonica! With one of those fancy head holders, but I can't play it that good yet.
My mom got me a big box of tea. I drink a fuckload of tea, so this was a welcome gift!
And my dad got me a pretty sweet jacket.
Also, there was some candy and stuff, but I ate it all already.

Comments
i dig.
Which isn't to say it's impossibly hard. It's just a lot more difficult than most other recent Castlevania games.
I'm not familiar with much else, though everyone I know seems to really dig Grid as well.
Harmonicas remind me of Demetri Martin and Beck's Futurama cameo.
They somehow managed to breathe new life into the series!
