The beard is getting pretty gnar, too.

I didn't even remember submitting this question. When I did, the 'stache probably looked something like this:

I had bumped my head pretty hard shortly before this was taken, hence the big red welt on it.

This might be my most narcissistic post ever.

Okay, I'm intentionally not posting "Particle Man" here. But yeah, Flood is definitely not my favorite They Might Be Giants album (that would be Lincoln, or Apollo 18), but it was formative for me. First album I listened to by the band, and it had me hooked on the band through about when I graduated high school and started branching out. It was my first taste of music most people would consider "weird," and definitely not the last.

Basically, if every kid grew up listening to They Might Be Giants, I think the world would be a strange, wonderful place. Their new stuff doesn't do as much for me (it sounds like they're trying to be the novelty band they managed to avoid being early on), and I was less than impressed when I saw them live last year, but their older material is undeniable.

They've also been putting out albums written specifically for kids the past few years. In fact, that stuff is better than the stuff they've been writing for adults. That said, now is the perfect time to make sure your kids grow up appreciating the finer things in life, like weird dudes with accordions and stuff singing weird songs that probably don't really mean much to anyone but them.

Not "powerful" in the traditional sense, but they're definitely the highlight of the song. As they are with any Pissed Jeans song, really.
